"In Contrada" means in your neighborhood.
And that's exactly what we set out to build — a Texas winery and authentic Italian kitchen close enough to be part of your week, not a once-a-year road trip.
Why we're here
The Hill Country experience — without the hour-long drive
Most Texas wineries ask you to drive out to Fredericksburg and make a day of it. We did the opposite. We brought a working vineyard, a scratch-made Italian kitchen, and live music to your side of San Antonio — just 8 miles from home for so many of our guests.

The owners
Ed & Caryn Sullivan
Inspired by travels through the Italian countryside — where a meal is never just a meal and neighbors gather over a full glass and good food — Ed and Caryn imagined something their own community didn't have yet: a true contrada, a neighborhood gathering place, rooted in the Texas Hill Country.
So they planted vines, built a kitchen around timeless Italian recipes, and opened the doors. Today In Contrada crafts award-winning wines on-site and serves Italian dishes made from scratch — and the warm, easygoing welcome guests mention again and again starts with the two of them.
"Met the owner Ed who was as friendly and easy-going as the staff," one guest wrote. That's the whole idea.
What we stand for
Made with heart, shared at the table
Award-winning wine
Estate Tempranillo, Cabernet, Merlot & a Best-of-Class sparkling — wine grown and made right here.
Scratch-made food
House pastas, wood-fired pizza, and sauces our chef makes from scratch — authentic Italian, Texas warmth.
Genuine connection
You don't need a special occasion — just a craving for great food, good wine, and good company.

Recognized
Our wine speaks for itself
At the 2024 Texas wine competition, In Contrada took home medals across our cellar — Silver for the estate Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, Bronze for the Merlot, and Best of Class for our Piccole Bolle sparkling. We're also Restaurant Guru recommended and consistently five-star reviewed.
But the recognition we care about most is the regular who tells a friend, "you won't believe this place is right here in San Antonio."
